Estimating Volumes

Post by angu6107 »

I took four scans of a pile, and I have stitched them together, and segmented off the actual pile to isolate it from the other parts of the scans. I am trying to compute the volume of that pile using tools>volume>compute 2.5D volume. However, when I select all of the different parts of the segment I am unable to calculate the volume. I can only calculate the volume on one segmented part at a time, but since there are overlaps in each scan, I will end up overestimating the volume. Is there a way to calculate the volume on the pile all at once?

Not sure to understand, as this tool is meant to compute the volume between 2 different 'states' of the stockpile.

If your 4 scans are representing the same epoch, then you can simply merge them (Edit > Merge) and then use a constant altitude in the 2.5D calculation tool.

Else, I'm not sure to understand what your expectation was :D
