Re: Point segmentation based on primitives

Cloud Compare retains the color information. Either it switching the display off of RGB and onto Scalar Fields or under scalar fields you can select your intensity values and choose the original values instead of the cloud to mesh computed results.

Re: Slope Calculations Question

I considered that it might be the Rasterize tool, so I ran normal detection without using it, still have the same problem. In the link below is the parking lot with normals detected via height. I have tested it with plane and triangulation and see similar results with the numbers. Link to .bin https...

Slope Calculations Question

As always thank you for this incredible program. I'm trying to calculate slope for a parking lot. Basically I'm interested in anything over a 2% slope. I used a height grid to get my lowest Z, calculated normal's, then convert normal's to dip/dip direction SF. When I look at dip (degrees) the number...

Re: Export as 3dpdf

I did some research into 3D PDF Point Clouds, It was my understanding that there was a hard limit on the number of objects it supported, something like 20,000, so you might be able to get a cloud in there, but it wouldnt look good.

Re: Small little things for histogram display and color scale

For the Histogram to display even numbers we trim the cloud to even numbers. Set your scalar field to the nearest round numbers. Say its 0 to 25.1234 then set it to 0 to 25, and then set the visibility to this and trim it. This usually achieves the color break down I need. You may need to tweak the ...

Re: Intelligent Cloud Reduction

I have made great use of this and wanted to say thank you for adding it to the program. I saw an article in Lidar News that talked about how they used Cloud compare to help their project, was happy to see your program in a magazine, even if one of our greatest secret weapons is getting more publicity.

Leap Motion for Ironman Like control

So this is a request for a new input. I know you support the 3D mouse connexion. I was wondering if you would consider adding support for the leap motion https://www.leapmotion.com/ This would be a purely wow effect, but I think it would be awesome if I could move around the cloud using just my hand...

Re: Intelligent Cloud Reduction

Thanks for the consideration and the quick reply. I talked about the idea with a coworker and realized it already exists for a mesh, just not point cloud. We have intelligent reduction of a mesh, hopefully a similar process can be done for a point cloud. Mesh Example http://www.shapeways.com/topics/...

Intelligent Cloud Reduction

First, your program is brilliant, and your doing amazing innovating things the industry needs. One of the most common uses of Cloud Compare I use is point cloud decimation to remove redundant points. What I would like to see is an intelligent evolution of the decimation. Basically I want to spend le...
