Re: cant get good normals from point cloud.
There is no easy solution. I might try to calculate normals on a per scan position basis, but it depends on how your object was scanned. It might be beneficial to cut the data into pieces and run normals on smaller sets with different settings to get the results you want and then merge it back toget...

Filter Points by Value - New Option
Danielle, I do a lot of work in the scalar field values. I request the ability to split by value not just filter. Similar to how the segment tool works, giving me two clouds. the SF values I limited to, and what was left over as well. I do this by hand now and it can be time consuming. Thank you for...

Color Scale Editor - Gradient Toggle
I request a check box to turn on and off gradient colors in the Color Scale Editor. Sometimes while using the Color scale editor I need to make a hard transition from one color to the next, say everything over an inch is red, and under is green. Currently I just add a tiny transition, make color gre...

Re: Photogrammetric Cloud vs LiDAR Cloud
Maybe they need to be able to see numbers in the histogram?
I agree with Daniels solution, what your describing is solved by density analysis.

Re: Water - Flow Puddling
In the end I was able to use your program. I was overthinking the problem. I can use normals, to get degrees, which then gives me slope %, beneath a certain threshold water does not flow, thus it becomes standing water. This ignores where water is flowing too, but it gives me most of what I needed a...

Re: Water - Flow Puddling
This is a lowest Z grid, my thought was its a simple matter of taking the normal color direction, and dropping an imaginary golf ball on that point, then sending in the direction of that normal to the next point. Continue until it reaches the end of points or is caught into a loop. Do this for every...

Water - Flow Puddling
I need to determine in a parking lot where the water will collect and create puddles. This is a feature that exists in Civil 3D, and I feel like the solution already exists in cloud compare or can easily be created. FlowDirection.JPG I know this shows me flow direction, but its hard to determine whe...

Re: Comparing clouds from cave survey - mask unwanted points
That image helps paint the picture. There is no good fix other then human eye. The only fix to remove the human element is to have perfect scan data with no shadows. Daniel, I have Faro scan data that I can share with you of an office taken months apart. The walls didnt change, but the furniture was...

Re: Comparing clouds from cave survey - mask unwanted points
I have done a very similar process to this and just wanted to add my two cents. Unless you can control the environment, and setup in the same scan positions as before I see no real way to avoid the shadows. We have just known that when we look at the data some of what is reading as changed, might ju...
