Re: Cross Section tool problems

Hum, it looks like an OpenGL 'picking' issue then. Have you updated your driver recently? What graphic card are you using by the way?

Re: Calculating 'real' volume/area?

Oh, and to change the orientation of a cloud, you can either do it manually (with the 'Edit > Translate and Rotate' tool), or you can input a given rotation matrix ('Edit > Apply Transformation'), and you can also 'level' a plane so it becomes parallel to (XY) (with 'Tools > Level'). See the wiki fo...

Re: Calculating 'real' volume/area?

To scale an entity, you have basically two choices: - either you only know some particular dimensions of your object, and then you can use the 'point picking tool' and the 'Edit > Multiply/Scale' tools together (see http://www.cloudcompare.org/doc/wiki/index.php?title=How_to_compare_two_3D_entities#...

Re: Low Res Mesh when exported to Meshlab

Ah, ah, it looks funny at least ("Minecraft" style). It as is the coordinates were read by Meshlab as integers instead of floats... Can you share the file with me maybe?

I can't remember why it wouldn't work. I'll have to dig into the code and I'll report back ;)

Re: Import with Tiling Error

Hum, I'm a bit clueless... If it works with bigger tiles, I wonder why it wouldn't work with smaller ones... Maybe an issue with the name? I'll try to check that one my side (sadly this feature is not working with the current 2.10.alpha version anymore as we are now using a new library to load LAS f...

Re: Comparing 2 Point clouds ply file

1-A) Nope, a partial overlap should be sufficient
1-B) 80%?

2) The active scalar field is 'Composite'. Are you sure this is the one you want to display?

Re: Registration Results RMS: Meters or ?

Indeed. CC doesn't handle units, it lets the coordinates unchanged and all measurements are expressed in the same (implicit) units.

Re: Can't load *.LAZ

You don't need to install PDAL. PDAL is already included in CloudCompare (well, in the latest 2.10.beta version at least). Actually PDAL is reporting the error. Seems to be an issue with the filename. Do you have any special/foreign character in your path maybe? Otherwise you can try to load it with...

Re: Comparing 2 Point clouds ply file

1. Points are randomly picked (see 3), so yes it will vary a little bit each time... but only a little bit. You have to put this in perspective with the scanner noise, etc. 2. ICP is meant to register point clouds representing EXACTLY the same shape. Any difference will change the result, this is wh...
